Pffff, you loser! I would take you within 20 miles with my Micra with twin exhaust and added bean tin covers. Oh yeah baby, hear that splutter as I go

Actually I asked a car nut yesterday about this, guy parks in front of my place, 16 year old civic but it kick starts as it goes along if ya know what I mean, sounds like the exhaust is exploding and then when he stops the car keeps running for a few minutes after he turns it off.

Turns out this is for high power race cars to stop the engine from overheating. How much sadder can these guys get ? Tongue

Are you implying that I'm easy darling??!!Tongue

And Admin, my friend's boyfriend has a car like that. We got a lift from him one day and when we got out of the car I asked my friend why he hadn't switched the car off. She told me then about it stopping the engine overheating. It is a bit sad seeing a near 30 year old with a boy racer car.

Bad cop!No donut!!

RE: Little boy racers
I just saw this thread there!!!

I'm 22 myself and yes me car has tinted windows and alloys but I'v also installed over 1.5k sound system into the car as I do a serious amount of driving so I may as well enjoy myself on the roads but unlike boy racers I lower it coming into the villages, just cause I like loud music everyone might not!!Big Grin

I'v been branded a boy racer multiple times by the older people on my street however its the aul fellas in there jags that tear up and down the road with the kids playing ouside and Iv never had a micra, glanza or dirtbox civic.
I had one 17yr old try and drift around my car while I was in the shop, he missed the car by bout 5 inches but lets say he doesn't drive fast anymore Big GrinBig Grin

A car should be lowered, tinted (personal preference) alloys and ICE'd!! That is all!! however if anyone wants to lend me LED's out of their ES motor they can Big GrinBig Grin

By the sounds of it ye are referring to 'Turbo Timers'.

Often fitted to Turbocharged engine management systems to protect the Turbo after hard use.

Unlike naturally aspirated engines the Turbocharged engines can suffer if the Turbo doesn't cool down properly.

"A turbo timer is a device designed to keep an automotive engine running for a pre-specified period of time in order to automatically execute the cool-down period required to prevent premature turbo wear and failure. After a period of driving when a turbocharger has been working hard, it is important to let the engine run at idle speed for a period of time, allowing the compressor assembly to cool from the lower gas temperatures in both the exhaust and intake tracts. At the same time the lubricating oil from the engine is able to circulate properly so the turbine won't burn the lubricating oil that would otherwise be trapped within the charger with the turbine rotating at high speed. With regard to modern automotive turbochargers, the need for a turbo timer can be eliminated by simply ensuring the car does not produce any 'boost' (during driving) for several minutes prior to the ignition being shut off. Most turbo timers are based on digital electronics."

Wikipedia explanation quoted above.

. . . . .basically these guys only need Turbo Timers if they are driving the bejaysus out of their cars and working the turbo hard, or if they have upped the boost of the Turbo to produce more BHP. . . . .to help them drive the bejaysus out of their cars.
